Now 16 years old, Dumin Kim is a young virtuoso from South Korea. He began playing the piano at the age of 7. Four years ago, he met an outstanding piano teacher, Michael Vladkowski, who encouraged him to go to Paris to study at the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Musique. Vladkovsky taught Kim to study Bach first, which helped him further develop his own musical prowess. For his debut album, Vladkowski also selected a variety of pieces, with Mendelssohn being the most appropriate for this young pianist. Mendelssohn, not Schumann, Chopin, or Liszt. The pieces chosen were not from Schumann, Chopin, or Liszt, but Mendelssohn, and some of the lesser-known pieces were from a repertoire that was unique and full of beautiful melodies that would bring peace to the listener's heart.
