Itka Hosprová has recorded works for viola and orchestra by three Czech composers of the 20th century! Itka Hosprová has been recording viola music of the 20th century, and this recording includes three concerto works for viola and orchestra. Hosprová was born in the Czech Republic, began playing the violin at the age of 7, entered the Plzeň Music Academy in 1989, and won the first prize in the under 18 category at the Beethoven International Music Festival in 1993. Later, he served as principal viola player in the Junge Österreichische Philharmonie, a group of young musicians, and is currently expanding his activities as a soloist not only in the Czech Republic but also all over the world. The viola has a beautiful velvety sound. Hindemith, Martinů, and Bartók have written masterpieces for this instrument, and the three pieces recorded here also make the most of the deep tone that only the viola can express. Feld's Viola Concerto is a superb work that technically surpasses Bartók's. Flossman's Visions of Michelangelo is a beautiful work composed in 1975, the 500th anniversary of Michelangelo's birth.And Bodrová's Passion Play Music "Planctus" reflects the darkness, stress, and despair of life during the communist Czechoslovakia of 1982.
