Denes Kovács is a Hungarian violinist born in 1930. He studied at the Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest with Ede Zatulezky, a pupil of Hubaye, and won the Carl Flesch International Violin Competition in 1955. His repertoire included concertos, chamber music, and solo works from the Baroque to the same period, specializing in Beethoven and Bartók; he began teaching at the Liszt Academy of Music in 1957, becoming professor five years later, and in 1968 he became rector of the conservatory.
