Wolfgang Marschner, born in Dresden in 1926, was a violinist, composer, conductor, and teacher. Coming from a famous musical family, his ancestors include Heinrich Marschner (1795-1861), the most important composer of German opera between Weber and Wagner. At the age of 14, he entered the Mozarteum University of Salzburg. At the age of 14, he entered the Mozarteum University of Salzburg, where his Divertimento for String Quartet was premiered. He served in the army at the age of 17 during World War II and resumed his studies after the war with Erich Lehn, the Berlin Philharmonic's conmasser. He became the conmass of the Hanover State Opera and the Cologne Radio Symphony Orchestra. The violin concertos of Schoenberg and Berg were an important part of his repertoire, and he was the soloist in the German premiere of Walton's Violin Concerto, and actively premiered other music of his time, including Stravinsky, NONO, and Hartmann.A prolific composer, his works include symphonies, concertos, chamber music, and solo violin works.
