The \"Jazz Suite\" was later used in Kubrick's film \"Eyes Wide Shut\" (1999) and in Nabokov's film \"Love Etude\" (2000), both of which were based on this Schee recording. The accompanying \"Piano Concerto No. 1\" was written for piano, trumpet, and string orchestra. The soloist, Brautigam, was born in Amsterdam and is a virtuoso who has performed with Haitink, Dutoit, and Rattle. He is also known for his fortepiano playing.This work demands such a high level of excellence from the trumpet that sometimes an outside soloist (on trumpet) is invited to perform and record the work. Here, the Concertgebouw's principal trumpet player, Peter Masurs (also spelled Peter Masseuse), is in charge of the trumpet.
