A collection of Fazil Say's works written for the sisters Fazil Say, pianist and composer, is a Turkish prodigy. Composer Fazil Sai has written music for Turkish pianists Ferhan & Ferzan Ender, with whom he has had a close friendship for a long time, and the sisters themselves have performed the pieces on this disc. The twin sisters Ferhan Ender and Ferzan Ender, now based in Austria, have already won numerous awards and are known for their active performing and recording career. 2013 saw the world premiere of "Winter Morning in Istanbul," which Fazil Say wrote for them. The same piece is the beginning of this work. The concerto for piano and orchestra, "Gezi Park 1," was written in response to the Gezi Park protests, which shocked Turkey and became the largest anti-government movement in the current administration, and is intended to contribute to peace and the people. It was also written for the sisters and was tentatively called "Twins" during the composition process, and this is the first recording of the piece.Sonata for two pianos, op. 80, written in 2018, was premiered by the sisters at the Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris in 2019. This is also a first recording.The two pianists, both of whom grew up listening to Turkish music from an early age, will perform works written in the hope of building a musical bridge between East and West, paying special tribute to Istanbul, and in the hopes of freedom, reconciliation, and understanding, in a richly expressive performance.
