The eighth release in the Lucerne Festival Series of premiere recordings is Annie Fischer's Schumann (1960) and Fleischer's Beethoven No. 2 (1962), The eighth release in the Lucerne Festival series, the first master release on the acclaimed Audite label, features Schumann's Piano Concerto, recorded in 1960 by Annie Fischer and the Philharmonia Orchestra conducted by Giulini, and Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 2, recorded in 1962 by Leon Fleischer and the Lucerne Festival Orchestra conducted by Sell. Annie Fischer (1914-1995) is still a popular female pianist, and the paucity of authorized recordings of her music makes her first appearance on the recordings very welcome. Schumann's piano concerto is one of Fischer's best-known concertos, and this performance, supported by Giulini, is a masterful and spirited performance. On the other hand, Leon Fleischer's Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 2, which was his Lucerne debut at the age of 34, impressed the audience with its bright and clear tone and became a legendary live performance. Fleischer, who had earned Sell's trust, presented a rich Beethoven interpretation with delicacy and precision. Only two months later, Fleischer suddenly lost the use of two fingers on his right hand, and until his recovery in the 2000s, he performed mainly as a conductor and in piano works for the left hand.It is truly a miraculous performance.
